Fall 2011 Folklore & Femininity

Fall Couture 2011 Trend Report: Folklore & Femininity

As if sparklers and fireworks didn’t dazzle our eyes enough this weekend, Sunday kicked off Paris’ haute couture week, when we get to see some of high-fashion’s most fantastic, whimsical, and dramatic looks. Teetering on the edge of insanity and pure genius, designers showcase their unique talent and impeccable skill. Here’s a peek at some of our favorites from bizarre to beautiful so far.

Next, we particularly love the eclectic French designer. With a folkloric inspiration, Mabille uses huge feather bows to decorate his simple silhouettes, proving that you can have fun by playing with basics. Sleeves that flounce, embroidered gowns and hair clips with jewels and stones; Alex Mabille charms us all.

Celebrating the 10th year anniversary of her brand is Anne Valerie Hash with a toned-down version of couture. Hash pairs masculine tailoring with feminine fabrics for a long, loose look at simple beauty. The omission of accessories is backed by the strong style Anne Valerie creates with her delicate handiwork.

Now that the fashion floodgates have opened, we can’t wait to see what hits us next!
